My journey with Get The Bag Boutique has been a roller coaster ride. When I first launched my online store back in April 2019. I was doing great with promotions on social media, attending pop-up shops, engaging with customers, and potential customers but all of that stopped when I started the first semester of my senior year in grad school. I just did not have the time to work full time, be a single parent, attend school, and focus on my boutique. So, I cut the boutique out entirely focused on myself and my family. Additionally, something terrible happened to me in August 2019 that took me a while to heal from. So, yes during that time I was busy and depressed. I stayed home and cut all ties with my friends like I normally do when the semester starts. When winter break rolled around I still didn't have the strength to promote or market my brand. I graduated from college in May 2020 and I started receiving orders from people in Baltimore that same month without any promotions at all. I said it must be god trying to tell me something. So, I started promoted and receiving more orders. I had to hire my niece to help me. So, now I am at the point where I don't have any items left and I need to restock. I also want to update my website which I am working on with Boss Babe branding. If you are a small business I recommend her. My new website will be launching soon and I will be adding new items to my store. It's like I am re-branding myself to be better than I was when I first launched. I made so many mistakes along the way. The first mistake I made was buying a lot of items at once. Since I work out of my home it had my small apartment looking crazy. In addition, I lost money on some of the items because I thought they would sell but they did not. But being a business owner is equivalent to being a risk-taker. You have to gamble on the decisions you make for your business regardless if you win or lose. Another mistake I made was when I stopped promoting. Market your business, I don't care if you do not get a sale in a month of Sundays. Be consistent.
